TED Talks Vancouver Aerial Installation

Aerial Sculpture from Janet Echelman in collaboration with Aaron Koblin.
745 ft of span, this installation in Downtown Vancouver involved the understanding of available lateral loading force of the involved buildings, the creation of a custom 3D software by Autodesk "to model the piece and test its feasibility", and the search for light and strong fibres, all in order to materialize this beautiful object.

The collaboration with Aaron Koblin, from Google Creative LAB, opened the opportunity to add a new dimension to the piece by allowing it to interact with the people through the use of mobile devices.

The scale of the project is monumental, it defines a social space and creates an atmosphere that responds to the inputs of the public... and it is sooo photogenic.
